Spring is the time when young wild herbs pamper us with vitamins and minerals. They revitalize our spirits and stimulate our metabolism. Our herbal seminar takes place in the historic Berum Castle in East Frisia, surrounded by forests and an old herb garden – the perfect place for this journey of discovery.
There are fire pits, seating areas and a large tent that provides shelter. We spend the night in the castle and enjoy breakfast there. During our hikes, we collect edible wild plants and flowers and learn how to use tasty wild herb mixtures and their healing properties.
Together we prepare wild vegetarian and vegan dishes such as wild herb salads, pestos, stews and breads. We experiment with different cooking methods such as flatbreads from the hot stone, in the earth oven, in the fire pot or in the embers. Once we also have fish from the fire. In the evening, we enjoy our meals by the crackling fire.
On Saturday we will celebrate a Thanksgiving ritual, and on Sunday we will focus on the “spirit of plants”. As we will be outside a lot, suitable clothing is important – rain jacket, wellies and a warm sweater for the evening if necessary.
The accommodation
The historic Berum Castle is located in the climatic health resort of Hage in East Frisia. The nearest town of Norden and the North Sea are both approx. 8 km away. Although the surrounding area is typically East Frisian “flat”, there is a small wooded area directly in front of the castle gate where you can take wonderful walks.
You will spend the night in one of our cozy double rooms, which we have furnished with great attention to detail. The rooms can be booked for single or double occupancy. Some rooms also have two single beds.
Our guests are of course invited to sit down at one of the various seats in the house or in the garden and explore the extensive castle park.
The booking

- Bookings for overnight stays as part of the Wild Herbs Weekend are made directly with Berum Castle at the following prices:
216,00 Euro – 2 nights in a double room (2 persons)
180,00 Euro – 2 nights in a double room in single occupancy

If you would like to spend more time in beautiful East Frisia and at the Burg Berum guest house, it is of course possible to make subsequent bookings or arrive earlier, depending on capacity.
