The accommodation

The historic Berum Castle is located in the climatic health resort of Hage in East Frisia. The nearest town of Norden and the North Sea are both approx. 8 km away. Although the surrounding area is typically East Frisian “flat”, there is a small wooded area directly in front of the castle gate where you can take wonderful walks. In the adjacent forest, you can still make out the old structures of the moat system of the former Berum Castle.

The castle garden is the heart of Berum Castle—in the summer, it provides shade and lets us all breathe a sigh of relief… behind the outer bailey, you suddenly feel close to nature and can leave the stresses of everyday life behind.

The entire garden is yours to enjoy during your stay with us—you’re sure to find a nice spot to sit, or you can end the day with a stroll through the grounds.

A walk along the castle ramparts is an absolute must, and of course, swinging on the big tree swing.

You’re welcome to use one of our Dutch bikes to explore the surrounding area. If you’d like to rent a bike with full service, we recommend reserving and renting a bike or e-bike at the nearby bike shop, Zweirad Brust.

Arrival

You can reach us by car, or just as easily by bus or train.

Directions by bus and train

Take the train to Norden Station. From there, you can take a bus all the way to our doorstep. The bus stop right by the castle is called “Am alten Amt.” At the Norden train station/central bus station (ZOB), take bus line 446 toward Südarle, K1 toward Harlesiel via Esens, or 361 toward Westerholt.

Parking

There are parking spaces on either side of the castle or in front of it. By prior arrangement, you are of course welcome to drive onto the grounds to load and unload your luggage.
