PACHAMANCA HARVEST FESTIVAL AT BERUM CASTLE

Pachamanca(Quechua “earth pot/dish”) is a dish of Peruvian cuisine. They are prepared in an earth oven. Stones are heated on a large fire and then cook the food in a pit. The whole thing is accompanied by music, rituals and prayers.
This is how we would like to celebrate Thanksgiving with you this year. We love the Pachamanca ritual. It is very close to our hearts and is beautiful! Berum Castle is the ideal place for this festival!
Friday we meet in the garden at 4.00 pm and walk through the garden to find wild herbs, fruits and maybe even mushrooms. We create our dinner together from the treasures we have collected and the finest organic vegetables from the region. September is bliss month for fruit and vegetables.
On Saturday we gather as a group and prepare the cooking pit, light the fire and heat the stones. We are at the fire, preparing the vegetables and other delicacies that will later go into the earth pit. Potatoes, corn, pumpkin, beans, clay pots with pickled regional cheese… We thank the elements for the harvest. When the stones are heated by the fire, we put our food into the hot pit and then cover the whole thing with leaves, straw and earth. Now it can cook in peace.
While the food is cooking, we create salads and pestos from wild herbs that we collect on the site and vegetables from the farmers and from our garden.
Opening the pit to extract the steaming treasures of Mother Earth is a total joy. This is a great experience for children! So bring your children and grandchildren!
We enjoy this wonderful meal around the fire in convivial company!
The accommodation
The historic Berum Castle is located in the climatic health resort of Hage in East Frisia. The nearest town of Norden and the North Sea are both approx. 8 km away. Although the surrounding area is typically East Frisian “flat”, there is a small wooded area directly in front of the castle gate where you can take wonderful walks.
You will spend the night in one of our cozy double rooms, which we have furnished with great attention to detail.
As we only have a few rooms, double occupancy is desirable – why not bring your best friend?
Our guests are of course invited to sit down at one of the various seats in the house or in the garden and explore the extensive castle park.
If you would like to spend more time in beautiful East Frisia and at the Burg Berum guest house, it is of course possible to make subsequent bookings or arrive earlier, depending on capacity.
The booking
- The fee of € 300.00 includes the seminar fees and full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Please register directly with Annette and Wolfgang
- Bookings for overnight stays during the Pachamanca weekend are made directly with Berum Castle at the following prices: 216.00 euros – 2 nights in a double room (2 persons)
